Dr Eleanor Ivory qualified from Cambridge University and St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School.
She specialised in Accident and Emergency Medicine and has been a CAA Authorised Medical Examiner since 2004.
On the 7th October 1997 and 11am she had a trial flying lesson at Oxford Aviation Training, The rest as they say is history. Totally smitten with aviation she signed up for a PPL the same day. This was followed by an IMC rating. Shortly afterwards she joined Oxford Aviation Training on the first modular residential ground school course for CPL/IR training. Commercial flying training was completed during a period of industry downturn.
For the next two years she returned to medicine but with an aviation interest. Working both as an air ambulance doctor and medical office for NATS based at the control tower at London Heathrow. Patience and determination were finally rewarded by a commercial flying job as a First Officer for BMIBABY on the Boeing 737. She moved to BMI on the Airbus A320 in 2006 flying from Heathrow. Flying part-time has allowed a continuous active involvement in aviation medicine. Eleanor moved to British Airways in July 2012 as a Senior First Office on the A320. Current post with British Airways is as a part – time Aeromedical Examiner with BA Health Services.
